Kasoa (C/R), March 17, GNA - A-day's workshop on the significance of Customary Land Secretariat (CLS), established in Kasoa, in Awutu Senya District of the Central Region, has been held at Kasoa. It was organised by the Centre for Development of People (CEDEP) a non-governmental organisation (NGO), under the auspices of Land Administration Project (LAP), for assembly members, traditional rulers, heads of department and institutions, market women, hairdressers, dressmakers, land lords and land ladies and urban council members, from the district.
Mr Charles Sakyi, Deputy Executive Director of the NGO, said that the workshop was aimed at sensitizing participants on the significance of the Secretariat to the development of the district. Mr. Benedict Fosu Adjei, Assistant Programme Manager of CEDEP, said the Secretariat would help to develop a sustainable and effective land administration in the area. He said LAP has over the past years paid particular attention to traditional areas where customary land secretariats have been established.
Mr Jonathan Ayiettey, an expert in land management and administration, appealed to participants to impact the skills and knowledge they acquired at the workshop to people in their communities to ensure the success of the Secretariat. 17 March 09
