World Renowned leadership guru visits Ghana

Accra, May 11, GNA - The British Council of Ghana would host the world's renowned leadership guru, Professor John Adair, in a three-day leadership development workshops scheduled from May 21 to 23, 2007. Prof. John Adair, who arrives in Ghana on May 20, is one of Britain's most renowned leadership trainer and recognised globally as the leading management and leadership guru who had addressed audiences in over 26 countries.

He has authored over 40 books in good leadership and translated them into many languages.

Mr Albert Eliason, Head of Marketing and Business Development, British Council at a press briefing on Friday, to formally announce the visit, said Prof. Adair's programme would include interactions with selected Chief Executives of various businesses and political leaders.

He said Mr. Adair would also feature in separate workshops and lectures under the British Council's bi-monthly Management Express forum in which his action-centred leadership formula may be applied to develop leadership competencies in business, politics and human resource development.

Mr Eliason explained that the lectures would focus on topics such as; "The challenges of leadership today, The Chief Executive as Strategic Leader, Developing leaders, The Action-centred leadership approach and Leadership for Nation Building."

"He would also hold a forum with university deans and heads of Business schools in Accra and Kumasi," he said.

He stated that the British Council felt honoured for the visit, saying it would be a great opportunity for wider networking and enhance its objectives in the area of assisting Ghanaians achieve a better life through personal and professional development programmes and securing a stronger relationship between Ghana and Britain.

He said the renowned leadership guru had influenced leadership practices in the United Kingdom's corporate world and public sectors, with motivational thoughts on leadership strategy, growth and development.

"Prof. Adair has mentored many of UK's top 100 Chief Executive Officers and also taught in many renowned institutions such as the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, where many of Ghana's leading military Officers had trained over the years," he said.

Mr Eliason called on the business community to take advantage of the visit and programmes to ensure the development of their businesses.
