Mampong (Ashanti Region), 13, Oct. World Vision International (WVI) at the weekend donated 2,383 assorted books and drugs valued at about 67 million cedis to 32 second cycle schools, community libraries, hospitals and other health institutions in the Ashanti region at Asante-Mampong. They comprised science and nursing books, encyclopedias, and Christian literature. Mr Theodore Kwasi Afare, Manager of the Ashanti Area Programme (ADP) of WVI, said his organization also has in stock 3,000 'Easy writing' books for junior secondary schools valued at 900,000 cedis to be presented to selected schools in the Greater Afram Plains. Mr Afare said his outfit is often overwhelmed by the magnitude of the needs of people and institutions they come into contact with but gave the assurance that they will try to meet some of them. The Sekyere West District Director of Education, Mr Martin Kwabena Asante, on behalf of all the institutions, expressed his gratitude to WVI for the donation. He hoped WVI would continue to assist the schools to stock their libraries.
