-Reveals Ray Smith And Says He Is An Embarrassment To NDC
The 10-page ‘confidential document’ attached to a ‘secret letter’ and sent to President J.E.A. Mills, dated December 19, 2011 which was intercepted by The Special Investigations Team (SIT) of The New Crusading GUIDE apart from containing damning allegations against embattled Alfred Agbesi Woyome, the author also questioned his sincerity.
Ray Smith, the author, revealed to President Mills that “In a written agreement it was stated that Mr. Woyome would represent our company in court and should there be a positive outcome then the proceeds of our part, i.e. 1/3 of the sum in question would be split in 5/9th for Mr. Woyome, 4/9th for my wife and I. Whereby 2/3 of the total sum would be transferred to the construction company”.
When the Court decided that their claim was justified, according to Mr. Smith, they expected Mr. Woyome to fulfill his part of the agreement.
“Only after many reminders and pressure would his Lawyer, Mr. Koka write to us and informed us what amount we had to expect. Apart from an enormous sum of approx. 3,9 million Ghana Cedis for Lawyers’ cost, an amount of EURO 2 Million was mentioned for “other expenses”.
Touching on the sincerity of Mr. Woyome, he wrote “When we met him in February 2001 he was “Nobody”. He was riding on our back for many years, was given possibilities which he may have never had without us but goes so far as to declare that m-Powapak Ltd. is his company and we were working for him…”
The m-Powapak Boss also told President Mills about the private life of his former bossom friend “…It was recently that we got to know the truth. Namely that Mr. Woyome was married to the Nigerian lady already in Libya and that he had 4 children. And that he married his second wife at a very inappropriate time. This is to show the character and sincerity of the gentleman”.
“Finally I like to say that knowing Mr. Woyome so well it becomes very clear to us that he is prepared to use anyone and any situation to achieve his personal ambitions regardless of Party policy and sensibility. If he continues on his present path he can only generate more damage than good. He is so concerned with his own glorification that he does not realise what turmoil he generates and the ammunition he provides to the Opposition. Because he cannot keep his mouth shut he is far from being an asset to the present Government, only a source of unnecessary embarrassment”, Mr. Smith opined.
*17. THE MATTER OF OUR CAN 2008 SUPPORT AND WOYOME’S INVOLVEMENT IN THE PAST COURT PROCEEDINGS:
Everything is documented. We, with our company Austro Invest Management and, m-Powapak have worked very hard for many years together with Mr. Woyome to introduce the projects and raise finances.
In a written agreement it was stated that Mr. Woyome would represent our company in court and should there be a positive outcome then the proceeds of our part, i.e. 1/3 of the sum in question would be split in 5/9th for Mr. Woyome, 4/9th for my wife and I. Whereby 2/3 of the total sum would be transferred to the construction company.
Mr. Woyome signed this agreement, together with me.
When the Court decided that our claim was justified we expected Mr. Woyome to fulfill our agreement.
Only after many reminders and pressure would his lawyer, Mr. Koka write to us and informed us what amount we had to expect. Apart from an enormous sum of approx. 3,9 million Ghana Cedis for lawyers’ cost an amount of EURO 2 Million was mentioned for “other expenses”.
We were astonished when we read this and requested Mr. Woyome through his lawyer to explain what for this amount was used.
After three weeks and numerous reminders to Mr. Koka we received another letter informing us that we are not entitled to any amount because we did nothing for the syndication and financial engineering of the projects.
We have given the case again to Mr. Tony Lithur to bring same to Court and also to claim interest as the payment for the claim was done many months ago and it is time that Mr. Woyome understands that he can not rule the world and that justice to all his doings has to be done.
In regard to the CAN 2008 support everything is well documented and is in the hands of our lawyer, Mr. Tony Lithur.
*18. To his numerous and lengthy statements in the media in respect to m-Pawapak Ltd. and to the Consulate I just can say that most of it is simply untrue.
* He was never a shareholder of this company and has never put even one Pesewa into the company – it was rather the opposite. He constantly borrowed money for his own personal use and returned it with great delay or when he was pushed to do so.
* Mr. Woyome had never anything to do with our principal business in our company. He had no involvement in the Red Bull operation as by the time we met him, we distributed Red Bull already since approx. 2 ½ years in Ghana.
* In the early years he wanted to have an office to himself and we were prepared to give him free of charge one of our offices for his use. He bought 2 tables. He applied for a telephone number at GT (which we paid). This number is still in his name and is hardly used. But the fixed costs are paid by us.
As we did the work for our projects in our own office his dedicated office was not used and in 2004 became the office for the Consulate. The two desks remained as his contribution when he became the Hon. Vice-Consul.
* He said on radio that HE, Alfred W. supported the Black Stars to go to Austria to a training camp. Everything he did was to arrange a meeting with the Deputy Minister. The Austrian Government/local government of Carinthia paid a big amount and m-Powapak paid USD 18,000. – Nobody else.
* He further said that HE, Alfred Woyome introduced an NGO from Austria to Ghana and subsequently to the hospital in Sogakope. Those are Eye Doctors who examine hundreds of patients and pay a Ghanaian doctor to do operations, etc.
Actually it was Mrs. Smith who encouraged those eye doctors to work in Sogakope and whenever they come to Ghana organizes everything.
The list could be continued. We are modest people and do not want to be in the limelight but it pains us to hear how Mr. Woyome presents himself and makes false statements.
When we met him in February 2001 he was “Nobody”. He was riding on our back for many years, was given possibilities which he may have never had without us but goes so far as to declare that m-Powapak Ltd. is his company and we were working for him…
On private issues he presented himself as being single with a girlfriend who had born two children in Libya. He told us that she was a Journalist in Libya and since they returned to Ghana her family from Nigeria was constantly in his house and he cannot stand this situation and wants to separate from her.
One day he came to tell us that he lives alone now and is taking care of two children. That he had employed a Nanny and had hired a private teacher so that the children are taken care of.
As we never were invited to his house to see the truth we believed him. We felt pity for him having so much work and no companion. We often encouraged him to find himself a partner and one time when he visited us in Austria at Christmas he met the sister of my wife and expressed his wish to marry her. My wife’s sister showed no interest in him and the subject was closed.
Only in January 2007 were we informed that he found a lady whom he wants to marry. We were happy for him and the couple visited us in Austria.
It was recently that we got to know the truth. Namely that Mr. Woyome was married to the Nigerian lady already in Libya and that he had 4 children. And that he married his second wife at a very inappropriate time. This is to show the character and sincerity of the gentleman.
*19. MISUSE OF HIS FORMER TITLE:
My wife informed Mr. Woyome that he is not permitted to use his title of Hon. Vice-Consul any more. i.e. since November 11, 2008. He ignored this as we all know.
In November the Ambassador of Austria came for a visit and saw in a Newspaper an article about “Consul Alfred Woyome”. He was surprised and wrote a Verbal Note to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the request to take care of the issue. The attached copy of the Note Verbal from the Austrian Ambassador speaks volumes.
Mr. Woyome is continuing to present himself to Government and the Public under false pretences.
He permits the Media to believe that he is an “ex Consul” or “Consul General” or has continued rights to a title. But most annoying of all is that he involves constantly the Austrian Consulate which had nothing to do with any projects, work or other issues which are in question. I believe it is his intention that he wants to bring his Consulate in disrepute. I strongly object to this behaviour. I expect that the Austrian Government will not accept such actions.
Finally I like to say that knowing Mr.
Because he cannot keep his mouth shut he is far from being an asset to the present Government, only a source of unnecessary embarrassment.
We received numerous calls from people who know us and who could not understand why Mr. Woyome makes statements on the radio which are far from the truth.
Mrs. Smith and I are peaceable law abiding residents in Ghana and neither of us has the entitlement, or indeed has ever indulged in or participate in local politics.
Whilst Mrs. Smith is the Hon. Consul of Austria she is none the less entitled to be a Director of m-Powapak Ltd. which carries out legitimate business. In my career I was MD/CEO of gold – and diamond mining projects in Africa.
I had enormous responsibilities and gained a reputation for absolute integrity and I therefore take great offence to the apparent attempt by Mr. Woyome to bring any implication to my company of muddy waters.
In the past both, Mrs. Smith and I have made numerous contributions to the benefits of Ghana’s people without attracting limelight.
It is unfortunate and very wrong that recent announcements by Mr. Woyome over the media should attempt to imply any political involvement by the Austrian Consulate.
Ray Smith
