Woyome Warns Rawlings

“Stay Off Me or Else…”

Alfred Agbesi Woyome, a business man and a staunch member of the National Democratic Congress has issued a stern caution to former President Jerry John Rawlings to desist from what he described as groundless denigration and scurrilous remarks he peddles against him and the ruling party or risk been exposed.

The former Australian Consul noted that the former President after falling out with the late Prof. Atta Mills has gain a remarkable notoriety for deviousness, disregard for the truth, and unrepentant penchant for fanning falsehoods about people from his own party who at a point in time laid down their lives for him. Speaking in an exclusive interview with The Al-Hajj on the eve of his predicament, where he was accused of defrauding the state over a GH¢51 million judgment debt paid to him, Mr. Woyome noted that former President Rawlings’ recent attacks on him and baseless allegations against some senior members of the NDC, including his brother, Kobla Woyome, were baked in a dilapidating kitchen of falsehood and served on the cracked plate of malicious assassination of character.

“Rawlings have tried as much as possible to use my case, which is currently before the court as bait to brainwash Ghanaians in voting the NDC out of government but Ghanaians did not buy into that…it will be interesting for Ghanaians to know why Rawlings have launched such a unending attack on me…I am sounding this warning to him, if he dare continues with what he is doing I will strip him naked, to the extent that he may have to use his hands to cover his face before he walks in public” he warned.

The thunderous sounding of the warning bell by Mr. Woyome comes on the heels of numerous attacks on him and the NDC party by former President Rawlings to the extent that at the Manifesto launch of the NDC at Ho, the founder of the umbrella party remarked “why should the government be afraid and running over the exposure of that corrupt boy, Woyome. There are more who are just corrupt or more corrupt like him”

“We must all begin to question Rawlings, why after presenting Prof Mills as the ideal candidate to step in his shoes at Swedru and we all stood beside and defended him at the peril of our lives, he turned back to vilify Prof Mills even after his death…Ghanaians must know…he must tell us. With all the skeletons in his cardboard, he still parades himself as a saint…he should dare me again, and the world will be too large to contain us, I will surely put him at his rightful place” Mr. Woyome retorted

Mr. Woyome could not comprehend why if not for destructive motives, the founder of the NDC with just a week to the December 7 election deliberately and falsely accused his brother, Kobla Woyome who was standing for election as a parliamentary candidate on the ticket of the NDC in the South Tongu constituency, for sabotaging the efforts and hard work of President Mahama. He rather accused former President Jerry Rawlings of working against President John Mahama and the NDC during the just ended elections.

According to Mr. Woyome, the NDC founders’ red Ford vehicle was sighted distributing food and water to polling agents of an independent parliamentary candidate and agents of the New Patriotic Party in the South Tongu constituency in the December 7 elections.

He conceded that he finds it intriguing to know that ex-President Rawlings with just three days to the December election was evasive on which candidate to vote for. “And even after John Mahama had been declared winner of the election, he sided with the New Patriotic Party for an inquest into the electoral results” “I will continue to speak my mind and if Rawlings thinks he is a saint that all must bow to worship and smear some of us with false allegations…then he should start re-writing his notes because when some of us start talking, he will regret the day his mother brought him into this world” a fuming Woyome noted. A former Rawlings’ loyalist, Mr. Afred Woyome’s admonishing of the former military strong man comes in the heels of a similar one by another Rawlings man, Dr Tony Aidoo within a week.

Dr. Tony Aidoo, who once served under Mr. Rawlings as a Deputy Minister of Defense, over the weekend said that he finds it intriguing to hear the ex-President calling for investigations in the outcome of the result of the 2012 polls.

To him, the use of the word “investigation” creates an impression that “the elections were deliberately massaged for the purpose of facilitating the victory (for the NDC)...and I think it is very irresponsible. I don’t know what Flt Lt Jerry John Rawlings has against the NDC”.

“It is about time that Flt Lt Jerry John Rawlings actually searched for his soul; and examined his conscience and tells the truth. Because what he has done to President Mills and the NDC is unforgivable! I know a lot but I won’t say it. And I am saying that Flt Lt Jerry John Rawlings, examine your conscience and come out and tell the truth because you are hiding something from the Ghanaian people and from the public,” Dr. Aidoo roared.
