Woyome demands apology from TV3 over 'false' faint claim

Businessman Alfred Agbesi Woyme has demanded "an unqualified apology" for a "strangely reported" news by TV3 network that claimed he "has fainted and is on admission at the Sogakofe Government Hospital".

According to reports, Mr Woyome collapsed few hours after former Attorney General Mr Martin Amidu was announced as the Special Prosecutor.

The embattled businesman has been in a legal tussle with Mr Amidu over the alleged wrongful payment of judgement debt to to him.

Mr Amidu last year filed an application to orally examine Mr Woyome under Order 46 of C.I. 47 after the state had filed an application to withdraw a motion to orally examine Mr Woyome.

A statement signed by the spokesperson of the embattled businessman refuted the false claim and has called for an immediate retraction, saying "It is in TV3's own interest to do the right thing professionally".

"We want to put on record that the report is false and must be ignored by all, especially our teeming supporters who are calling from all over the country on hearing the news,"the statement read.

The statement further claimed Mr Afred Agbesi Woyome is "is not bothered about Martin Alamisi Amidu becoming the Special Prosecutor".

DEMAND FOR RETRACTION AND UNQUALIFIED APOLOGY FOR PEDDLING FALSEHOOD: TV3

It has come to our notice that just after the announcement of Mr. Martin Alamisi Amidu as the Special Prosecutor, TV3 strangely reported that Mr. Alfred Agbesi Woyome has fainted and is on admission at the Sogakofe Government Hospital.

We want to put on record that the report is false and must be ignored by all, especially our teeming supporters who are calling from all over the country on hearing the news.

We have taken note, and demand immediate retraction of the false story, and an unqualified apology rendered to Mr. Woyome and his family who have been beraged with a lot of calls.

It is in TV3's own interest to do the right thing professionally.

It must also be on record that Mr. Alfred Agbesi Woyome who understands and appreciates the rule of law, and respects the 1992 Republican Constitution of Ghana is not bothered about Martin Alamisi Amidu becoming the Special Prosecutor.
