Ya-Naa's investiture: Display of colourful smocks, tradition and culture

It was a show of deep traditions and culture as the new overlord of the Dagbon kingdom, Ya-Naa Mahama Abubakari was, was outdoored on Friday, January 25.

The beautiful ceremony held at the Gbewaa Palace in Yendi saw the creme-de-la-creme in Ghana's political landscape and other prominent people attending.

As if it had been planned, many of these politicians who attended decided to wear the traditional dress of the Dagomba people, smocks (batakari).

Led by the new Ya-Na himself there were a plethora of beautiful smocks which could easily qualify the occasion as a festival of smocks.
