Yagba/Kobori PNC picks a teacher as its parliamentary candidate

Yagba (N/R), Oct 02, GNA - Mr Sumani Haruna, a 38-year old teacher, was elected unopposed as the People's National Convention (PNC) parliamentary candidate for the new Yagba-Kubori constituency in the West Mamprusi District to contest the December general elections. Delegates at the party's congress in Yagba, by popular acclamation, approved Mr Haruna's nomination as he was the sole candidate. Mr Haruna said the people of Yagba-Kubori were yearning for a change of government and that the PNC was the only party that could unseat the NPP in December.

''My priority, when elected, will be education and fighting poverty among the people.''

He said the poverty situation in the constituency was so endemic that no government had made efforts to curb it and that the PNC was determined to win this year's elections to help the poor.

''The PNC will win 15 Parliamentary seats in the Northern Region. The party will win enough seats to form a government.'' Mr Haruna appealed to the youth "to examine their standard of living" before they cast their vote and kick the NPP government out of power.

He appealed to PNC supporters to be committed to the party and join in the crusade to win more souls, which would let the PNC win the elections "One touch".
