Yendi conflict - two suspects arrested

Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the Yendi clashes between the Andani and Abudu gates which led to the assassination of the Ya Na Yakubu Andani last week.

The police in Tamale arrested the two last night but their names are being withheld for security reasons. The two were arrested through police investigations. Police have offered a ten million cedis reward for information leading to the arrest of suspects in the Yendi conflict.

Meanwhile, residents of Yendi are reportedly fleeing the town to the regional capital, Tamale for fear of reprisals following the assassination of the Ya Na.

Others are also fleeing because they lost their homes and property during the violence that broke out last week between the Andani and Abudu clans. Government said the increasing number of the refugees in Tamale is high on its agenda as it explores avenues for peace in the Dagbon traditional area
