You are a coward - NDC's Beatrice Annan stings Bryan Acheampong over 2024 elections comment

Beatrice Annan, a member of the John Dramani Mahama campaign, has lashed out at the Minister of Food and Agriculture, Bryan Acheampong over some comments he made regarding the 2024 elections.

Bryan Acheampong is quoted as saying during a rally at Nsawam in the Eastern Region that the New Patriotic Party will activate all necessary measures to win the December polls.

"Before I end my speech, I want to reiterate that whether the NDC likes it or not, they will never win the 2024 elections. They won't win. Go and check their records, they won't win. The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is here to win elections.

"So whichever means we will use to win the 2024 elections, we will use it. We are a political party. We have pastors, Imams, and traditionalists in the party. Ours is to win the elections. So whichever means we will use to win the elections, we will use it," he reaffirmed his position.

His comments irked Beatrice Annan, who criticized him on the Monday, August 12, 2024 edition of Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana show, describing the Abetifi lawmaker as a coward.

“He is the most cowardly person in the NPP. If there are men in the NPP, Bryan Acheampong isn’t one. Did we not listen to him when he was granting an interview alongside Ablakwa on the SSNIT hotel saga?

“When he wanted to contest as a parliamentary candidate at Suhum and the contest became bloody, he ran away. The man who can’t find his way as a Minister of Agriculture and the man found to be a man of no integrity by a commission of enquiry,” she said.

But her statement was dismissed by Tabitha Ayillah of the NPP, who maintained that Bryan Acheampong’s comments were normal remarks made by politicians during rallies.

She explained that Bryan Acheampong meant no mischief with his statement and that his comments cannot be misconstrued as a trigger for election violence.

Bryan Acheampong spoke as a politician. I can also go back and rehash what their people said. There were times when they said a whole lot, so if Bryan is saying we are winning the elections with everything within our power, what is wrong with it? He never said we will do it with ammunition or that the NPP is going to rig the elections,” she said.
