The Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr, has raised the alarm over his impersonation by an unidentified person on the social media platform X, formerly Twitter.
On the Tuesday, December 3 edition of Peace FM’s Kokrokoo program, Kwesi Pratt lamented that the person behind the account is leveraging his name and reputation to undertake illegal activities.
Pratt stated that after becoming aware of the account's existence two years ago, he has made several efforts to get it shut down, but his efforts have so far yielded no results.
He bemoaned that the person appears to have key information about him and is therefore able to properly address queries from the X officials.
The veteran journalist noted worryingly that the publications from the account are hurting his image and that the person behind it must desist.
“Someone has set up a Twitter (X) account in my name, and the things he or she is doing with that account are unbelievable. He has thousands of followers. I issued a statement, but the person did not heed. I have filed complaints to Twitter five times, and nothing has been done about it.
“On Monday, the person paid money to be verified in my name. To whoever the person is, what have I done to you? What have I done to you for you to impersonate me and use my identity to say some terrible things about me? Do you know what you are doing to my reputation?
“The person is writing all kinds of things in my name. The person has been operating this account in my name. I haven’t done anything to deserve such treatment from the person. I have to take action because the person is hurting me,” he said.
