The Member of Parliament (MP) for Asante Akim North Constituency, Lawyer Andy Appiah-Kubi has stated that the fact Chairman of Association of Fulanis sponsored part of his campaign is not enough justification for him to allow them [Fulanis] engage in lawless acts in the area.

He also rubbished allegations leveled against him by Chairman of Association Fulanis (AF) describing them as ‘unintelligent statements’.

Mr. Edward Asadu, the Chairman of AF earlier on Friday accused Mr. Appiah Kubi of leading Operation Cow Leg to his ranch to kill 16 of his cows and leaving his child injured in the district.

He went further to claim that, he (Asadu) sponsored the MP and his District Chief Executive during the 2016 electoral campaign with cash and posters and dared them to deny.

But Mr. Appiah Kubi in his response rubbished the allegation and said he as a legislator has no power to command the Operation Cow Leg to carry any form of attack.

On claims he received cash and posters he said “On the part of the DCE I do not have the capacity to comment on it but on my part I can recall that he printed about 500 posters which he gave to the DCE to hand over to me. I thanked him for that”, he said

“However, that does not necessarily mean because of 500 posters he should break the laws or regulations of Ghana”. He warned

Mr. Asadu however insisted he offered money to the MP but he categorically stated it was untrue because he returned the alleged money given to him.

“He again brought us an amount of GHC10,000 to pay our polling station Executives but before the money was sent to us, he earlier went to broadcast it on the radio. Due to that, I returned that money to him”. He clarified indicating that Mr. Asadu does not qualify to sponsor him.

“He is not my sponsor. He cannot claim to have sponsored me. No! Because money used for my campaign came from my personal pocket and he knows that”. He added

There have been tension in the Afram Plains and Asanti Akim North between the Fulanis and locals which has led to about 52 deaths
