The Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah says not everyone will be satisfied in the selection of regional capitals for the newly created regions.
Various traditional leaders from the newly-created regions continue to pile pressure on the government to choose their preferred areas as capital.
On Monday for instance, the chiefs and people of Nkoranza, which is in the Bono East Region, claimed they were being side-lined by Dan Botwe, Minister for Regional Re-organization and Development, in the naming of the regional capital.
Residents in the Bono East and Ahafo Regions have also been ‘fighting’ to get their towns named as regional capitals.
Speaking to this in an interview on Peace FM's morning show ‘Kokrokoo’, Tuesday, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah asked the chiefs to rather concentrate on developmental projects for the newly created regions because not everybody will be satisfied as far as choice of the capitals is concerned.
“Choosing capital for new regions is the preserve of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, it is for him to decide. No matter what it is, everybody cannot be satisfied; the regional capital is going to be only one and so you can’t threaten government and then think that you can have your way, our concentration should be on development,” he indicated.
