A Deputy Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ernest Owusu-Bempah, has made a comment about the chances of his party winning the December polls that has gotten tongues wagging.

Drawing in the God factor into his arguments about the confidence he has that the NPP will win the pending polls, he explained that after all that they have done for Ghanaians, it will not be right for God to look on for them to lose.

He explained further that after the successes of the Free Senior High School policy, for instance, which has given hope to many young people of a brighter future, if God allows the NPP to lose the 2024 election, then He (God) will fail to be who He is.

“The power God gave us after looking on us with mercy, we also look with pity on the poor. We signed a covenant with God and God will look on it to glorify us. He will never let us be ashamed… I say it is a covenant that we have signed with God. God says he shows mercy to those who show mercy to others.

“For instance, there was this an orphaned child we met at Bosomtwe who was a maid and because of us, he had Free SHS and was eating free and through that, has been able to get to the University of Ghana and has a better future and a better job, and has become a better citizen today in this country, and that God will look at a case of this orphan and say that we should go into opposition, then God is not God,” he said in an interview of Kwesi Parker-Wilson of Oyerepa TV.

Probed further, Ernest Owusu-Bempah explained what he meant by the above statement, indicating that it is a contextual situation and from what he knows, plus the covenant the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has gone into with God, they cannot fail.
