On Wednesday, 10 April 2019, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo commenced a two-day working visit to the newly created Western North Region.
While there, Nana Akufo-Addo cut sod for the construction of the main campus of the Bibiani College of Health Sciences.
The President also made a brief stop at Ntrentrenso where he inspected a cocoa rehabilitation farm; commissioned a newly constructed Business Resource Centre at Sefwi Wiawso; and presented eight vehicles to the Western North Regional Co-ordinating Council.
The Omanhene of Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Area, Katakyie Kwasi Bumangama II, lauded Nana Akufo-Addo for keeping his promises to the people of the Western North region.
He said for some 44 years successive chiefs and residents in the Western North enclave had been calling for a region of their own, without success.
“When you (Nana Akufo-Addo) came to Sefwi Wiawso in 2016, we put this same request before you. In fact, our inability to get an immediate response from you then made us think that you would not heed to our request. It was until you got to Sefwi Bodi, that you indicated that if we voted for you, you will ensure that our request for the Western North region is granted.
“Many were those who did not believe in you, but you have proven to us that you are ‘?seade?y?’ (promise keeper). You are a courageous leader. There aren’t enough words to describe what you have done for us,” Katakyie Kwasi Bumangama II said.
