Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress, John Dramani Mahama, has once again shot down claims that he intends to cancel the Free Senior High School policy if he is elected president on December 7, 2024.

According to the former president, such claims are nothing but absolute lies being perpetuated by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Addressing the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu, at the Manhyia Palace on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, Mahama assured that he has no intent to cancel the policy, which he said was started by his erstwhile government.

“So that thing they keep saying, Nana, you know me, you are one of those who nurtured me, and you know I don’t lie. So I stand before you today and affirm that the lies being peddled that we will cancel Free SHS is a lie; there is no iota of truth in that,” he stated.

He also accused the ruling party of taking issues of development in the Ashanti Region for granted because of the support the party enjoys in the region and assured the Asantehene of his commitment to develop the region when elected president.

He called for Otumfuo’s blessing while emphasising his assurance to reset the country’s path towards growth and development.
