Former President John Dramani Mahama has landed himself in trouble following his ‘scornful’ advice to President Nana Akufo-Addo to cure his “super incompetence” with an Obinim sticker.

Addressing a gathering of supporters during the National Democratic Congress’ recent Unity Walk in the Upper West Regional capital, Wa, on Saturday, Mr. Mahama observed that his successor was underperforming as far as the governance of this country is concerned.

He, therefore, recommended the popular Obinim Sticker, which according to members of the controversial preacher, Bishop Daniel Obinim’s church was being used to perform miracles due to the inherent powers of the stickers.

He said, “I have been watching social media lately, and there’s something that has come, and I think it cures everything. It’s the Obinim sticker, the President and his government need an Obinim sticker. If it really works, then I think they need the sticker. So I am saying that we cannot depend on their incompetence, we need to work hard to gain the support of the electorate.”

The ex-president’s comment has attracted counterattacks from political opponents, particularly members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Deputy Minister of Information, Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah-Adjei who slammed the former President for his comments also cautioned him to stop embarrassing himself as he is the right definition for “super incompetence”.

She posted on Facebook, “After all the trail of embarrassments you brought back to Ghana recently, to remain relevant in Ghana politics, you describe President Akufo-Addo today, as though you were talking about your ownself.”

Mr Mahama’s incompetence according to the Akuapem North Constituency legislator, is manifested in his performance as a President of Ghana and in his role as an election observer in Kenya and in the just ended Sierra Leone presidential poll.

“2012 presidential election malpractices in Ghana you were the suspect and beneficiary. 2016 presidential elections in Kenya you went as an observer.... worst observer ever 2018 presidential elections in Sierra Leone you went as an observer.... once again, most incompetent observer in the history of Africa,” she stated.
