THE GENERAL Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Dan Botwe, has stated in Kumasi that the Young Elephants Movement (YEM) is the official youth wing of the party.
Accordingly, he warned, nobody can form any other association as a youth wing in the party.
He said also that nobody can claim exclusive right of control of the movement.
Answering questions by Luv FM's host Kofi Kum Bilson last Monday on "Love in the morning" programme, the NPP chief scribe said the proliferation of youth wings in the party was a recipe for danger.
According to Botwe, the National Executive Council last November 29 took a firm decision regarding the emergence of youth wings and claims and counter claims of control of these movements (associations)
"We would not compromise discipline, else the party could be destroyed," Botwe assured.
There had been in-fighting and wranglings over who should control the YEM.
At the centre of the controversy are Alhaji Kwasi Yeboah, National Organiser of the Movement, and the District Chief Executive(DCE) for Kwabre and Mr. F. F. Anto, Regional Party Chairman, on one hand and General Secretary Botwe on the other.
