A young man in his early 20s was found hanging in a cocoa tree in Latutu, a farming community in Akyem Tontro, in the Abuakwa North Municipality of the Eastern Region of Ghana.

The deceased, who had reportedly arrived in the community with his father from Sefwi to visit a family member just a week prior, is believed to have taken his own life after his father departed for Somanya.

On Wednesday morning, the young man, dressed neatly, took his bag and left the house.

His body was discovered later that evening, around 5:00 PM, hanging in a cocoa farm.

Mr. Emmanuel Abayatey, the owner of the farm and an award-winning farmer in the area, found the body.

Reports indicate that the young man used a sponge tied to a branch of the cocoa tree and stood on a gallon to hang himself.

Stephen Tetteh, the Assemblyman for the Osiem-Afigya Electoral Area, confirmed the incident and stated that a Police Criminal Investigation officer from the Tafo District Police Command was at the scene to document the crime scene.

Stephen Tetteh expressed his dismay over the lack of transportation, which necessitated carrying the body to the roadside to find a tricycle to transport it to the mortuary at Akyem Tafo Government Hospital.

The police are investigating the cause of the young man's actions, as he did not leave behind any note.
