Issues of kidnappings and night attacks seem to be growing despite measures being initiated by the Ghana Police and other security apparatus; a situation which remains a serious security threat in the capital.
A resident of Tema has narrated a chilling experience she suffered at the hands of her would-be abductors. The young lady who gave her name only as Dede disclosed how she was stripped half-naked and robbed of her belongings by unidentified men who posed as passengers in a 'loading' taxi.
Dede who recounted her ordeal to Citi FM's Caleb Kudalor indicated that the incident happened on the Devtraco-Jehovah Witness stretch in Tema Community 18. She stated that her attackers resorted to taking off her clothes after blindfolding her and snatched her bag containing her laptop computer, phone and purse as well as her ATM and demanded for her to disclose her pin.
"The man in the front seat jumped to the back, he slapped me several times and told me they were going to kill me if I didn't keep quiet so I had to be quiet."
"... they had started to take off my clothes and started blindfolding me and they threatened to kill me if I was giving them a wrong pin because they said they were going to the ATM. They said they were taking me far away.. at that point I was frightened so I started to plead for my life.." she added.
She disclosed that the men finally dumped her at an isolated location after driving around for about 20 minutes and sped off.
Two weeks after reporting the incident however, Dede says the Baatsona Police are yet to give her feedback on updates of her attackers.
