Twum Barimah, a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has issued a stern warning to the Minister for Food and Agriculture and Member of Parliament for Abetifi Constituency in the Eastern Region, Mr. Bryan Acheampong, regarding his recent comments about the upcoming general elections.

Mr. Barimah criticized Mr. Acheampong's statements, calling them a threat to the country’s peace as it approaches the 2024 general elections.

During a campaign rally in Nsawam, Eastern Region, Mr. Acheampong asserted that the NPP would win the forthcoming elections by any means necessary. He also warned that if the country were to descend into chaos due to an election dispute, his family would also suffer the consequences.

Mr. Barimah, who is also a lawyer, responded by warning Mr. Acheampong that his "day of reckoning" was approaching and that any unrest resulting from his remarks would be his responsibility, especially given his extensive investments in the country, including a fleet of hotels. He advised Mr. Acheampong to be cautious with his statements.

Furthermore, Mr. Barimah suggested that Mr. Acheampong was merely echoing the rhetoric of President Nana Akufo-Addo, who made a similar declaration during the Kumawu by-election in the Ashanti Region, vowing not to hand over power to the NDC.

Mr. Barimah made these comments during an interview on Accra-based UTV, where he reacted to the Minister's controversial statements.
