Media personality, Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah, has expressed strong opposition to the leader of the New Force Movement, Nana Kwame Bediako, becoming Ghana's president.

According to the outspoken radio show host, Bediako's ostentatious lifestyle makes him unfit for the highest office in the land.

In a video shared on social media platform X, Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah, while speaking on his show, emphasized the need for Ghanaian leaders to lead modest lives.

"I have a problem with Nana Kwame Bediako wanting to become the leader of Ghana because we don't build a nation by showing opulent displays of wealth to the people. What it does is it discourages modest Ghanaians who want to work hard to build the nation and benefit from their efforts. To be a leader, you need to live modestly, and the kind of lavish display he's showing is concerning, even though he earned his own money through hard work," he said.

He further questioned, "The issue is, if you're spending your own hard-earned money lavishly on designer wear, what will happen to public funds when you become president? That's the situation with Akufo-Addo. He lived a comfortable life while young, watching Tottenham Hotspur in the UK, and his father was sending him money from Ghana. He knows how to spend lavishly, and when he became president, we've seen how he's lavishly spent public funds, hiring private jets and all that."

In 2023, reports emerged that Nana Kwame Bediako, also known as Freedom Jacob Caesar, had acquired a mansion in the prestigious Bel Air area of Los Angeles for $7 million.

Known for his eye and taste for extravagance, Bediako reportedly spent an additional $2 million on decorating the mansion, which featured a Versace-inspired theme influenced by his visit to the Versace House in Italy.

“I happened to be in Italy and visited the Versace House, which inspired me. When I came into this house, for some reason, it looked like Versace to me; that’s the inspiration I got. So eventually, that whole dream became a vision and a reality,” he shared during a tour of the mansion, which is said to be one of his five most luxurious homes.

The mansion boasts a $22,000 customized TV set, several rolls of Versace wallpaper costing $250 per roll, and a $120,000 chandelier.

Ultimately, Bediako plans to sell the mansion, stating, "Profit is sanity, everything else is vanity."

He will be on the ballot papers for the presidential race in Ghana on December 7, 2024.
