Your response to my claims on ambulance spare parts deal hollow – Ablakwa to Health Ministry

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament for North Tongu Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament for North Tongu

North Tongu Member of Parliament, Okudzeto Ablakwa, has insisted that the statement issued by the Health Ministry does not address the legal issues raised in his complaint to the Office of the Special Prosecutor.

The Health Ministry, in its statement, confirmed that the contract for the spare parts was $34.9 million.

However, the Finance Ministry was able to fund $10 million and asked that the Health Ministry and the National Health Insurance Ministry fund the rest of the payment, something they have not been able to do.

The Ministry then denied paying an amount of $34.9 million to Service Auto Ghana Limited, which was contracted to provide spare parts for the maintenance of the ambulances.

In a tweet reacting to the statement, Okudzeto Ablakwa indicated that the statement was empty as it did not address the salient legal issues raised by him in his petition to the OSP.

His post read: “A full copy of my 22nd July, 2024 complaint filed with the Office of the Special Prosecutor on the US$34.9 million ambulance spare parts scandal. The dishonest and hollow statement from the Health Ministry does not address any of the grave infractions and legal violations.”
