The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has shared how Adansi Asokwa Member of Parliament, Kobina Tahir Hammond, lost in the 2024 parliamentary elections.

Nketiah stated that during the campaign period, he campaigned against KT Hammond in his constituency by using some disparaging comments he made about the youth during an interview some time ago.

The NDC National Chairman indicated that he used Hammond’s disrespectful comment against the youth to campaign against him, which led to his defeat in the parliamentary elections.

“He [KT Hammond] said on television that the youth are senseless, that their heads are like coconuts, and that they grow their beards. So that is what I used to remind his constituents during the campaign.

"So if they voted for him again, then it would mean they are not sensible indeed, which worked,” he said in Twi during an interview with Onua TV.

KT Hammond, the long-serving MP, lost to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate Godwin Animli Dorgbadzi-Dorani, who secured 14,229 of the valid votes cast, while KT Hammond garnered 13,275 votes.

The MP has rejected the results, citing irregularities in the collation of the results. He stated that he will take legal action if the EC fails to address his grievances.
