Akwamu Kotoku (E/R), Oct. 17, GNA- Farmers at Akwamu Kotoku and Ahomahomaso in the Fanteakwa District have appealed to the government to rehabilitate the Begoro-Ahomahomaso-Miaso road which to them is in a very horrible condition.
They complained that, because of the bad road, a lot of drivers plying it had withdrawn their service and that it is becoming difficult for farmers and women in the area to get their produce to the marketing centres.
The farmers made the appeal when the Member of Parliament for Fanteakwa, Mr. Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo met with the electorate at Ahomahomaso on Wednesday.
At Ahomahomaso market, Mr.C.K. Narh, a GPRTU official said because of the bad nature of the road, some drivers charge 10,000 cedis from Begoro to Ahomahomasu instead of five thousand cedis.
He said most of the women who go to the Begoro market do not get transport back and some had to walk back to the Ahomahomaso. Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo appealed to the youth to exercise restraint while efforts are made to get the road rehabilitated.
At Akwamu Kotoku, Mr Ofosu-Ampofo called on the people to support the afforestation programme and abide by the advice given by the forestry officials.
He advised the people to make a lay out for the area to make it easy for officials of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to plan how to get the area connected to the national grid.
