The Board of Zongo Economic Development Agency (ZEDA) has announced the appointment of Reverend, Alexander Kwasi Kufuor as its first Chief Executive.
ZEDA as a new Development Agency was formed to work with key stakeholders and the Ministry of Zongo to create, develop, train and work with the stake holders to improve the living conditions of the Zongo Communities.
In a statement sighted by ghanaweb.com, ZEDA said it will be siting its offices at Ashiaman-Jericho, to ensure that the services and opportunities created goes directly to the deprived Zongo communities.
ZEDA will be actively involved in designing sustainable employable projects, develop technical and computer literate schemes, undertake hard and soft skills training programmes, all with the aim of improving the employable skills of young people living in the Zongo Communities.
Its new Chief Executive Alexander Kwasi Kufuor is a political Scientist who has legal qualifications and highly experienced in the field of economic development and regeneration.
He attended Manchester Victoria University where he studied Politics and Theology, did his graduate studies at Queens University, Kingston Ontario Canada, where he studied International relations and Politics before undertaking a postgraduate law degree at Manchester Metropolitan University.
He has worked as an Assistant Lecturer and created Phoenix Supported Employment Service United Kingdom- Manchester a company which was committed to enabling and empowering young people with learning disabilities to acquire employable skills.
Currently Alex is the Chief Executive Officer of Changing Minds UK & Ghana Ltd an organisation committed to work in partnership with like-minded agencies in its effort to eliminate negative attitudes and mind-sets which militate against national development.
Rev. Kufuor in a statement said “He was privileged and honoured to have been given the opportunity to contribute to the holistic development of the Zongo Communities and was looking forward to relocate from Manchester, United Kingdom to Ghana – Ashiaman”.
