As part of her social intervention measures to minimize the risk of the Coronavirus affecting her constituents, the Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle, Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, has presented some medical items to three health institutions within the constituency.
The three health facilities include the Adabraka Polyclinic, Osu Maternity Clinic and the Tema Station Clinic.
Presenting the items, Dr Zanetor said the reason for making the donation to the health institutions is to help reduce the risk of transmission of the Coronavirus.
According to her, the three health facilities are some of those health centers that a large number of residents, especially pregnant women and the aged seek medical care, hence the donation.
She presented boxes of medical items as well as liquid soap, antiseptics sanitizers, among other items.
Health workers and governments are working to slow the spread of the COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus.
Using methods ranging from simple hand-wiping with antiseptic liquid soaps, sanitizers, among others, Dr Zanetor said remained a common way, for now, to halt the transfer of the virus by touch.
She charged residents of the constituency to take rote time measures by washing their hands with soap for at least 20 seconds or use an alcohol-containing antiseptic solution.
Additionally, people are advised to keep a distance of approximately one meter from the interlocutors with signs of the disease and as well try not to touch their eyes, lips, and nose with their hands as the virus could penetrate through the mucous membranes.
This, Dr Zanetor asked the constituents to consult a doctor when they notice symptoms like fever, cough, shortness of breath.
She used the opportunity to call on the government to support the local pharmaceutical industry to produce medicine to help the local health facilities to fight the deadly Coronavirus.
Officers of the beneficiary facilities who received the items expressed gratitude to the Klottey Korle lawmaker and promised to use them for the purpose intended.
They respectively appealed to other stakeholders to emulate same to help in the fight against the deadly Coronavirus which has been globally described as a pandemic.
