Zebilla (U/E) June 13, GNA-The Zebilla police on Monday arrested two teenaged farmers for allegedly defiling a 16-year-old primary six pupil in turns in the bush at Apamure, near Zebilla in the Upper East region.
Azumah Ndeogbah and Ayeen Ayani, both 19 years, have been charged for conspiracy and defilement and are due to appear before the Bawku circuit court on Thursday.
Both admitted the offence in their caution statement to the police and were released on bail.
Narrating her ordeal to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Zebilla, the victim said that last Thursday her parents at Kpantarigo, about five kilometres away from Zebilla, sent her to grind corn at Apamure but met a long queue so she had to wait for some time.
She said after grinding the corn at about 2000 hours the two farmers approached her and volunteered to accompany her home since it was dark and not safe for her to travel the bushy path alone that night. She said she accepted their offer set-off till they got to the middle of the journey that the first suspect proposed love to her. According to the victim, after some distance the suspects took the corn dough bowl off from her head, held her neck and mouth and pushed her down onto the grass.
She said Azumah was the first to have sex with her, followed by Ayeen, and before having two more rounds each and after satisfying themselves, they left her to her fate whiles she bled profusely. She said she could not walk after they left till her parents found her lying on the path and took her to the police station to lodge a complaint.
Inspector Andrews Darko, officer in-charge of the station confirmed the story and added that the victim was issued with a medical form to seek medical attention, which proved she had been defiled. He said the police had a tip-off of the suspects' hideout and arrested them.
