Alhaji Baba Gazali, the Assembly Man for Zohe-West Electoral Area, in the Yendi Municipality has commissioned a 20-seater toilet facility in the Zohe community.
The newly constructed toilet valued at about GH¢40,000.00 replaces a dilapidated one that was no longer useful, compelling both young and old to openly defecate indiscriminately in the community.
Alhaji Gazali said the old toilet facility at a point became inconvenient for use and compelled the residents to engage in open defecation, indicating that the stench from the toilet was unhealthy for the community members.
He stated that there were plans to drill and mechanise a number of bore-holes in addition to the existing ones and to improve on an educational fund in the area which had already supported 18 needy children in the community.
Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama, a philanthropist, supported the community with 50 bags of cement and 20 lamps of street lights to aid in the construction of another toilet facility and lighting at the request of members of the Zohe community and a sum of GH¢5000 to support girl-child education in the area.
Alhaji Yussif Abubakari, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) commended the Assembly Man for helping to address the needs of his people.
He urged members of the community to play individual roles in keeping the facility clean at all times to attract more of such projects from donors.
