Residents of Nima are going to be beneficiaries of a well developed community, Minister for Inner City and Zongo Development Boniface Abubakar Saddique has said.
“For now, the best thing to do is to ensure that the place is beautified and for us to bring better sanitation management within the area to reduce some of the problems they encounter.”
He also stated that plans are far advanced to establish a Senior High School in Nima under the Inner City and Zongo Development Ministry.
The Madina Member of Parliament disclosed that the Ministry has medium and long term plans to engage landlords and members of the various Zongos for a discourse to decide what is best for them.
“We will have a proper discussion with the people,” he stated, “if they agree, a memorandum of understanding will be signed, and investors will put up high-rise buildings in the area.”
The Minister, who was speaking in an interview on TV3’s New Day on Wednesday, said funds allocated to his ministry will be put to judicious use in addressing issues that require urgent attention in Zongos and inner cities across the country.
The former Salaga MP also gave an indication for the completion of the Nima storm drain, which has been stalled for some time, adding his ministry has been mandated to ensure infrastructural and sanitation enhancement towards the development on Zongos and inner cities in the country.
He further noted that his ministry is putting measures in place to control crime and ensure security in such areas.
Alhaji Abubakar said there is the need for a collaborative effort between his ministry and other ministries and government agencies in achieving the developmental agenda.
