Zoomlion Foundation, a corporate social responsibility wing of Jospong Group of Companies, on Saturday organised a free health screening exercise for sanitation workers in Accra.

The over one thousand beneficiaries had their blood pressure checked, as well as their eyes and ears.

They were also screened on breast cancer, skin problems, cardiovascular degeneration, Hepatitis B, among others.

Speaking to the media, National Coordinator of Zoomlion Foundation, Mrs Sarah Kyei, said her outfit remains committed to quality healthcare delivery in the country.

She disclosed that the exercise was aimed at evaluating and addressing potential health risks associated with work activities of sanitation workers, and inculcate a culture of sound environmental practices through training and capacity building.

According to her, the medical measures will help in early detection and prevention of the effects of these exposures.

The screening exercise, which is the first in the series of many medical screening exercises, would be organized for sanitation workers all over the country, according to Mrs Kyei.

She added: “We are happy to be supporting this initiative, which the Foundation believes would go a long way to improve the lives of sanitation workers in the country”.

Mrs Sarah Kyei further expressed profound gratitude to event partners, including Tobinco Foundation for donating medical supplies and PENSA Korle BU Medical Outreach team for providing medical personnel.
