Zoomlion threatens lawsuit against NPP activist over false claims

Fadi Dabbousi Fadi Dabbousi

Zoomlion Ghana Ltd has threatened to drag the governing New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) activist Fadi Dabbousi to court over the latter’s false claims held against the company and its Chief Executive Officer, Joseph Siaw Agyapong.

Fadi in a latest post on social media urged the new government to pursue Zoomlion company and the Jospong Group of Companies at large for some dubious contracts and payments received for unexecuted jobs.

He asked EOCO to continue the good work that they have embarked on to retrieve monies and assets suspected to be accrued by persons through dubious means, like it did in the case of the CEO of Cocobod, Dr. Stephen K Opuni, freezing his accounts and investigating him subsequently.

He insists Zoomlion Ghana Ltd and its owners should also not be spared either following some allegations of controversial payments and contracts awarded the company by the former administration.

“We request that the CEO of Zoomlion, Joseph Siaw Agyapong, be moored in the docks for the same purpose of retrieving the nation’s wealth that is alleged to be in his possession by way of dubious contracts and payments received for unexecuted jobs.”

“That notwithstanding, such louts must be investigated for human rights abuse, especially at Zoomlion where it is said that salaries are as low as GHs90 per month (USD20). You see, that is where the problem is,” Fadi said in his post recently.

But reacting to such claims on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.5 FM, Communications Manager for Zoomlion Ghana Ltd , Mr Robert Coleman, said the group will square up to contest the false claims made against his outfit by their accusers.

“It is regrettable because we always say we have to promote Ghanaian business. We have over 75,000 persons employed at Zoomlion and Jospong Grp of Companies. This is sheer enviness, and jealousy. We are very much aware of these things and our legal department has taken it up and handling it. But I can assure you that we are focused, we’re working and we are going to work seriously with Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s administration to ensure that we take sanitation to another level.”
