The youth wing of the National Democratic Congress has congratulated George Opare-Addo for his nomination as Minister-designate for Youth Empowerment.

In a statement issued on Friday, January 17, 2025, the NDC youth noted that the elevation of George Opare-Addo to the new ministry is indicative of the outstanding work he has done over the years.

The youth wing noted that Opare-Addo has been a staunch advocate for the empowerment of the Ghanaian youth and that his new role will enable him to contribute more to shaping the futures of the Ghanaian youth.

“The Youth Wing of the National Democratic Congress proudly congratulates Lawyer George Opare Addo on his nomination as the nation’s first Minister of Youth Development & Empowerment, pending parliamentary approval.

“This appointment is a testament to his extensive years of dedicated youth activism and his unwavering commitment to youth development and advancement within the National Democratic Congress and our nation as a whole,” parts of the statement read.

The youth wing of the NDC also expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for the honor he has done George Opare-Addo.

They hold that the decoupling of youth empowerment from sports is indicative of John Mahama’s commitment to growing the youth.

“We extend our profound gratitude to His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama for this historic appointment, which rewards hard work and loyalty. This nomination is a direct fulfilment of President Mahama’s commitment to creating a dedicated ministry focused on empowering our youth and transforming their aspirations into groundbreaking successes.

“We also commend Mr. President for his determination to establish the most youthful cabinet our nation has ever seen. His appointments thus far clearly indicate that we are on track to achieving a cabinet infused with youthful energy – a significant milestone for Ghana.

“Our sincere appreciation goes to the party leadership and all allied stakeholders for their unwavering support and endorsement,” parts of the statement read.

Opare-Addo who is the National Youth Organizer of the NDC was on Thursday, January 16, 2025 nominated by President John Mahama as Minister-designate for Youth Empowerment.
