The microphones and tables used by the Appointments Committee to address the floor and were damaged during the vetting of Minister of Health Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, have been repaired in less than 24 hours after the chaos unfolded.
New footage from the Parliament’s vetting committee room, where the chaos erupted, shows the microphones and tables have been neatly repaired and set up ahead of Friday’s vetting.
The room has also been organised to ensure a smooth process for the ministerial nominees scheduled to be vetted on Friday, January 31, 2025.
This latest development comes after the chaotic scenes between the Majority and Minority sides of the Appointments Committee, triggered by disagreements over the continuation of the vetting process.
The vetting has also been confirmed to take place at the same venue where the chaos occurred.
According to Frank Annoh-Dompreh, the Member of Parliament for Nsawam Adoagyiri, who also serves as the Minority Chief Whip, the Appointments Committee had agreed to vet four nominees on January 30, 2025.
However, five were vetted, and two more were added, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs-designate, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and the Minister of Health-designate, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, which led to the chaos.
The Minority side was seen overturning the vetting table, destroying almost all the materials on it.
Parliaments vetting committee room has been restored to its original state, with the microphones fixed and tables repaired.
