The Head of the Technical Unit at the Ministry of Climate Change and Sustainability, Cedric Dzelu, has hinted at introducing a Climate Hub to support climate-related research.
According to him, the ministry, which is the first of its kind to be established by the president, comes at a time when climate issues continue to escalate across the sub-region.
Dzelu shared these details with journalists following the Minister of State in charge of Climate Change and Sustainability's first day at work on February 17, 2025.
He explained that “The Climate Hub is essentially designed to support research, harmonizing climate change evidence backed by reliable data. Our intention is to provide a space for young people, actors, civil society organizations (CSOs), and stakeholders to coordinate their activities.”
“So, it will serve as a one-stop shop for innovation, research, mentorship, and funding necessary to finance these activities, allowing young people and organizations to build the capacity to deliver effective climate change solutions. I’m also excited that both the minister and professors have highlighted how this hub will support not only Ghana but countries across the sub-region,” he added.
The Minister of State in charge of Climate Change and Sustainability, Baba Seidu Issifu, marked his first day at work, expressing his readiness to champion President Mahama’s vision of safeguarding Ghana’s climate space.
