Private legal practitioner and media personality, Samson Lardi Anyenini, has called for an end to the politics of retaliation in the country.
His comment comes in response to the revocation of appointments of public sector workers who were employed just a few days before the Akufo-Addo government exited office.
The decision to dismiss these workers has been widely condemned by a large section of the public, who have described the move as retrogressive.
Others have justified the decision, arguing that a similar action was taken when the Akufo-Addo government assumed power in 2017 and dismissed some workers employed by the outgoing Mahama administration at the time.
However, in a statement, the astute lawyer asserted that Ghana cannot continue on this path in its nation-building efforts.
"Ghana's progress should not be hindered by the flaws of either the NPP or the NDC, and the cycle of retaliation must end. President John Mahama appears naturally measured, and this could be the starting point for change, even if there is no guarantee of reciprocity in the future—for God and Country.
"I have a dream—I have a dream of a Ghana where the Black Star of Africa shines brightly, guided by the principles of justice, equality, progress, and all that is envisioned in the preamble of the Constitution and the directive principles of state policy," the statement concluded.
