Colonial era is clearly before independence and what he said is not surprising at all. Things are worse. Some Ghanaian leaders have done very well but it appears the problems are beyond them

What doesn't add up? The old man has seen it all and he is telling us! I can testify only to Ghana after independence and before 1966 and beyond that. Before 1966, in my view, was the best period in Ghana! There is no close second!!
Since then we have recycled one unscrupulous leader after another. And, they became rich overnight. Ninety-nine percent of Ghanaians are not benefiting from this thing we are calling 'independence'. On paper, we have been independent for 68 years. But, are we really independent? If we are a country, and every other Friday, we are looking for money to borrow, will you call us 'independent'? Ghana's (most sub-Saharan Africa's) situation is so depressing that only the politicians are benefiting from it! Do you see any end to this stagnation? This stagnation is not only economic; everywhere around us in Ghana is physically also chocked with trash! Is that what we want?
The old man has seen better days but they are all past and gone!

That's one of the problems in Ghana! We believe that anytime we invoke God, it means things will change. Get it straight! There are over 8 billion people on this planet! If God gets himself bogged down in Ghana with approx. 30 million people, when does he get to help the rest of the 8 billion?
BTW, we can put churches on every corner in Ghana, but, if all we do is to go to work and steal from our employers including the government and go to church to ask for forgiveness, no amount of religion will help us as a country! One cannot find more than ten (10) honest people in Ghana!! The average Ghanaian is dishonest and will steal from you!!! Hiding behind religion has not helped us. BTW, I am a Christian too! Most of you who read this will want me lynched. But, all I will tell you is that 'THE TRUTH HURTS'!!!!!!
