FC Samartex president Richard Nsenkyire has expressed confidence in his team's ability to compete against African giants as they prepare for their upcoming fixture against Raja Club Athletic.

The Ghana Premier League champions will face the Moroccan side in the second round of the preliminary games.

The Timber Giants are set to host Raja on Friday, September 13, at the Accra Sports Stadium before travelling to Morocco for the return leg on September 20 at the Stade Larbi Zaouli.

In an interview with JoySports, Nsenkyire stated that the club is not intimidated by the reputation of their opponents.

“We are not moved by names; if it is only names, we would not be where we are,” he said. He recalled their previous successes, noting, “Nobody gave us a chance when we went to Douala [against Victoria United], but we were able to secure victory and will do the same here [in Accra]. I can promise Ghanaians that they are going to see football from us.”

Nsenkyire emphasised that the team is focused and continuing their regular training, taking a game-by-game approach.

Before their match against Raja, FC Samartex will compete against FA Cup winners Nsoatreman FC on August 31 in the Champion of Champions clash, followed by their Premier League opener against Dreams FC next month.
