A 16-year-old Ghanaian striker has his set sight on winning the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League Goal King award.
Prince Kwabena Adu who plays for Bechem United believes he can beat his experienced contemporaries to win most cherished individual awards in the Ghana Premier League.
The teenager who has scored six goals and assisted twice in his last 8 appearances in this seasons campaign is optimistic that his side would make it to the top four or possibly win the league.
“My target for this season is to win the goal king and for Bechem United, if we miss our chance on the title our aim is to be in the top 4,” Kwabena Addu.
The youngster was the hero as his side remarkably ended Berekum Chelsea’s unbeaten run in match day 7 of the season. Kwabena Adu headed home the winner in that game for Bechem United who came from a goal down.
After failing to hit the target over the weekend against Ebusua Dwarfs, Kwabena Adu is two goals shy from the league’s top scorers, Victorean Adebayor and Yahaya Mohammed who have both scored eight goals so far.
The striker however has a complex case when it comes to the players who inspire him. Even though he was just 6-years-old when Ghana played Uruguay in that epic game at the 2010 World Cup, Kwabena Adu maintains that, “Luis Suarez and Asamoah Gyan are the people who inspire me.”
As is the dream of many young players, Kwabena Adu dreams of winning the UEFA Champions League just like the reigning African Best Player.
“In Europe, my dream team is Barcelona but my heart seeks is to play and win the UEFA Champions League and become like Sadio Mane,” the striker told Saddick Adams in the interview.
