18 companies compete in a special golf tourney

Accra, April 13, GNA - Innovation hits the golf scene this weekend as some top-notch 18 corporate bodies congregate at the Tema Country Golf Course to change the face of the sport.

Dubbed "G-18", the two-day 36-hole event is to assemble 18 companies including AngloGold Ashanti, Emirate Airlines, Ecobank, Merchant bank, Labadi Beach hotel, Wienco Fertilizer and Regency Resort to compete in what will become an annual event.

The maiden event, being put together by Letage Productions, Organiser of the recently held Nescafe West African Musical Contest at the Independence Square in Accra, is to compel top business executives to get off their desk to compete in the sport. Stephanie Ansaa-Addo, a former Miss Ghana and an official of the organisers who relayed the information to the GNA Sports through Mr Ebenezer Adablanu, CEO of the Tema Country Golf Club, said the competition would serve as a platform to lobby the companies to invest into the sport.

Each company is expected to enter four names for the Saturday and Sunday event.

In a related development, the maiden Ghana Telecom (GT) Invitational Golf Championship is scheduled for Saturday, April 23, at the Tema Country Golf Course.
