19-year-old lifts Ghana's flag high in Canada

Ghana's Margaret Simpson might not be the most popular athlete participating for Ghana in the Edmonton games but she is flying high the country's flag in Canada. After a year in the sport, she's participated in the All African Championship where she was 4th.

She placed 12th yesterday at the World Stage in Canada. The athlete who missed out of contention for a medal managed a points haul of 5,748.

The 19year-old, Simpson, is competing at the World Championship in her discipline, Heptathlon, a seven-component sport for Ghana.

Meanwhile, Ghana's US based Vida Nsiah, failed to make it to the ladies 100metre finals, as she placed 5th in the heats.

Her season's best time of 11.56secs, could not qualify her for the second round.
