Communications Director of the Ghana FA, Ibrahim Sannie Daara says if the divisive statements of the Sports Minister does not stop Ghana may miss the 2018 World Cup.

It will be recalled that Sports Minister, Hon. Nii Lante Vanderpuye said he doesn’t understand why Black Stars players are paid winning bonuses during qualification for AFCON and the World Cup as well as being bought business class ticket for national team matches in a recent interview.

This statement couple with other statements by the Sports Minister has a damaging effect on the Black Stars brand according to Ibrahim Sannie Daara.

Speaking on Kasapa Fm’s Dwidwa’m sports show on Wednesday, the Communication Director of the Ghana FA told host Adam Adjei that if the key stakeholders involved in ensuring that Ghana qualifies for the World Cup do not come together then we risk getting back to the old bad days.

The ingredients needed to aid the qualification of the team to the World Cup will not come by chance unless there is peace and we come together as one unit, one country behind the team then it will be difficult to realize the World Cup dream again. All our compatriots Morocco, Algeria,Nigeria and Egypt are giving their teams the needed support and treatment to ensure that they deliver at their best on the field of play. In sharp contrast, the statements from the Sports Minister over the past few days suggest that those treatments that have aided Ghana’s qualification to the past three World Cups should be scrapped and plunge the team into those days when Ghana was losing to the likes of Burundi during World Cup qualifiers.
