Ghana Black Stars will play a decisive Russia 2018 World Cup qualifier game against the “Diables Rouges” of Congo Brazzaville on Friday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

The senior national football team played a goalless draw game against the Ugandans in Kumasi and lost 2-0 to Egypt in an away match.

The Congolese have lost all their two matches against Egypt and Uganda. Ghana currently lies on 3rd position in Group E with only a point, trailing behind Egypt with 6 points and Uganda with 4 points.

Congo Brazzaville occupies the bottom of the table with zero point out of two matches the teams have played in the group.

Historically Ghana has a good record against their opponent as they have met 12 times. The Black Stars have been victorious on 10 occasions, lost 1 and has recorded 1 drawn game with Congo Brazzaville.

Apparently, Ghanaians will have to keep their sight on the game which will be played today involving the other teams in the group, Uganda and Egypt.

A win or draw for the home side will be a great opportunity for Ghana to be optimistic of qualifying for the Russian 2018 tournament for the fourth consecutive time.

Dede Ayew is optimistic of victory in today’s game as the Black Stars are poised to boost their chance of qualifying.

“It’s an important year for us and if we do it, we’ll turn something that was impossible into something possible, so our country would be on fire. We’re going to try to make it happen. We have the belief, we have a great squad and I think we can do it,” he said.

The black star will play the second leg of the game in Congo Brazzavile on the 5th September.

Meanwhile, the “Diables Rouges” Uganda will welcome the “Pharaohs “of Egypt at home and will hope to win to boost their chance of making a first ever world cup appearance.
