Ghana will be participating in 14 disciplines in this year’s Africa Games in Rabat, Morocco.
The competition, which is scheduled for August 19, will see team Ghana being represented by 97 athletes; 55 men and 42 women in disciplines such as Athletics, Boxing, Badminton, Table Tennis, Fencing, Beach, Volleyball, Weightlifting, Karate-Do, Taekwondo, Judo, Cycling, Swimming and Football
This was disclosed during the International Games and Competitions Committee’s (IGCC) meeting with the Sports Minister, Hon. Isaac Kwame Asiamah at his office in Accra.
The International Games and Competitions Committee which is also called Games Committee was inaugurated by the Sports Minister, Hon. Isaac Kwame Asiamah on March 30, 2019, and the committee was charged with the responsibility of overseeing Ghana’s preparation and participation in all International Games and Competitions.
The Eleven-Member committee which is chaired by Prof. Peter Twumasi, the Director-General of the National Sports Authority (NSA) and has other members such as; Dr. Emmanuel Owusu-Ansah, Mr. Magnus Rex Danquah, Mr. Ben Nunoo Mensah, Mr. Richard Akpokavie, Mr. George Owusu Ansah, Mr. Salisu Omaru, Mr. Emmanuel Oteng, Rev. Richmond Quarcoo Chief De Mission, Bishop Adja Cofie, Mr. Yaw Kutor and Mr. Papa Asante presented to the Sports Minister, the final list of sporting disciplines and athletes participating in the Africa Games.
