Ghana's double header against Sudan later this month in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers has been postponed by CAF because of coronavirus.

The Black Stars will have to wait to find out the new date for the qualifiers after the continent's governing body CAF took a sudden decision to postpone the matches on Friday.

Caf made the sudden u-turn of postponing this month's Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers as the coronavirus pandemic has now directly affected footballers and coaches in Europe.

This comes just two days after Africa's football governing body announced that it competitions will go ahead as the continent had not been declared a high risk area over the deadly disease.

But since that decision on Wednesday, some footballers, coaches and administrators in England, Italy and Germany have been infected with the highly contagious disease.

With majority of the players scheduled to play in the qualifiers coming from some of the highly affected countries, the Confederation of African Football (Caf) has decided to postpone the matches.

The game was scheduled to have been played on 27 March at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium and the return leg to played in Omdurman in three days time.

Ghana coach CK Akonnor and his charges will have to wait to find out when their next round of matches will be played as the matches have been postponed indefinitely.

Some 48 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers were set to take place in nearly 50 countries across the continent at the end of March.
