Asante Kotoko are poised to take the top spot in the league as they host Accra Lions on Sunday at the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi.
Currently two points behind league leaders Medeama, who had their winning streak halted by a goalless draw against Heart of Lions, Kotoko are eager to seize this opportunity.
The teams meet again seven months after Accra Lions claimed a 3-2 victory in their previous encounter.
However, Kotoko enters this clash with confidence, following a solid win over Nsoatreman, maintaining their unbeaten record this season.
"The boys are doing well. We need to encourage them and then we need to make sure that we keep the determination, we keep the intensity, and our sense of focus. I will say the boys are doing well," said Kotoko coach Prosper Narteh Ogum.
While Accra Lions also boast a recent win, their defensive vulnerabilities have been evident, conceding goals in five consecutive matches.
Historically, Kotoko has an edge in their meetings, winning three of the last six encounters, with two ending in draws.
This season, Kotoko have two wins and two draws, while Accra Lions have one win, one draw, and two losses.
With both teams seeking crucial points, fans can anticipate an exhilarating showdown.
