Ghanaian sprinter, Benjamin Azamati, has secured a spot in the semi-finals of the Men's 100M race at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games on August 3, 2024.

Azamati finished second in his heat with a time of 10.08 seconds, which was sufficient for him to advance.

Jamaican athlete, Kishane Thompson, won the heat with a time of 10.00 seconds, also qualifying for the semi-finals.

Abdul-Rasheed Saminu finished 3rd in Heat 5 of the Men’s 100M, also automatically qualifying for the semi-finals.

Saminu raced alongside the reigning Olympic champion, Marcell Jacobs, and got within 0.01 seconds of him.

This achievement is a positive development for Ghana, especially as other athletes have struggled in their events.

Rose Yeboah, who had high hopes, did not advance in the High Jump event, and swimmer Harry Stacey also failed to progress to the next stage.

Despite these setbacks, there are still upcoming events where Ghana hopes to secure a medal.
