Former Black Stars coach, Charles Kwabla Akonnor, has asserted that he would be shocked if Ghana failed to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Akonnor believes the Black Stars will certainly secure a ticket for Africa's flagship tournament despite a slow start in the qualifiers.
He said the main concern should be about impressing at the competition that will be held in Morocco.
"Qualifying should not be a problem. I will be surprised if they don’t qualify, but we have to do well when we play in the competition proper," Akonnor said.
He admitted that the Black Stars have had a terrible start to the qualifying series, but he is optimistic that the team will get back on track in the remaining games.
"It’s not good to play two matches and get one point, but I know and hope they will bounce back," he added.
Ghana lost to Angola at home in the opening game before drawing with Niger in the second game. They will be looking for their first win when they face Sudan in the third round.
Ghana will face Sudan in a doubleheader, with the first leg slated for October 10 in Accra and the return leg on October 15, 2024, in Libya.
