2025 AFCON Qualifiers: Black Stars to begin camping on Monday ahead of Sudan games

Ghana’s Black Stars are set to begin camping on Monday as they prepare for their vital 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying matches against Sudan.

The team will face Sudan twice, with the first match scheduled for Friday, October 11, 2024, at the Accra Sports Stadium, and the return fixture in Libya on Monday, October 14.

Coach Otto Addo will announce his squad on Friday afternoon, with key players like Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey and West Ham star Mohammed Kudus expected to be included.

Fenerbahce defender Alexander Djiku, who missed the previous qualifiers due to injury, is also expected to return, along with Lyon’s Ernest Nuamah, who has recovered from injury.

The squad faces a tough challenge, as Ghana currently sits third in their group after a loss to Angola and a draw against Niger. With two must-win games ahead, securing victories against Sudan would significantly improve their chances of qualifying for the tournament, which will be hosted in Morocco.

The team will hold four training days at the Accra Sports Stadium, which recently received late approval from CAF to host the match. Players are expected to arrive in Ghana after their club commitments this weekend.
