2025 AFCON Qualifiers: Ghana get temporal approval to host Angola at Baba Yara Sports Stadium

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has reportedly granted Ghana temporary permission to host Angola at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

According to a report by Akoma FM, CAF gave Ghana temporary approval to host the game but has requested improvement in six areas at the stadium or risk playing their remaining home games outside Ghana.

The areas CAF demanded improvement in are floodlights, dressing rooms, the venue operation centre (VOC), washrooms, the safe zone, and stadium sound systems (speakers) before the next home game.

The pitch appears to be in good condition with the grass looking healthy.

The stadium and the pitch, specifically, were in a deteriorated state after hosting a five-day church event in June 2024.

However, in recent photos released by the National Sports Authority (NSA) Ashanti, the pitch appeared to have recovered its lush green look ahead of the Black Stars' game against Angola.

The robust work follows assurances from the NSA representatives in the Ashanti Region, who vowed to get the pitch to the required standard after the five-day church event left it in a devastating condition.

"We have a robust plan, a crack field, and a maintenance team to recover the pitch and restore the facility in general in record time throughout August. Stakeholders can rest assured," the NSA Ashanti Region stated in a post on X.

The Black Stars will host Angola in Kumasi on September 5, 2024, before visiting Niger on September 9.
